Overview
The Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Management programme is designed for professionals who wish to advance their career in management and leadership. It aims to develop students’ problem-solving and decision-making capabilities by combining the knowledge they gained from higher and/or professional education with a workplace-based research project.
The programme is accredited by the Institute of Certified Management Accountant, Australia and New Zealand (ICMA). Students who have successfully completed ACC4101 Strategic Cost Management and ACC4102 Strategic Business Analysis as part of the programme will be eligible to become the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) of ICMA without further examination (subject to satisfying the experience requirements).
Programme Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate mastery of conventions and doctrines of accounting and management, and their strategic applications in diverse contexts.
- Demonstrate critical awareness of major contemporary issues in accounting and management.
- Critically evaluate issues relating to business systems and practices and the roles of business professionals.
- Communicate and interpret business propositions and justify complex ideas and solutions to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Formulate strategic initiatives, appraise alternatives, critically evaluate implementation outcomes and provide performance feedback in diverse contexts.
- Exercise high level judgments over strategic issues in organisations.
- Plan and executive applied research projects with research principles and methods applicable to the fields of accounting and management.

Entry Requirements
- A Bachelor degree (EQF level 6) or equivalent in any discipline; or
- Membership of a recognised professional body in accounting, finance or related disciplines.
Recognition of Prior Learning
- Students who have successfully completed a Bachelor degree (EQF level 6) or equivalent in accounting, business, finance or related disciplines will be awarded exemptions from ACC4000 Management Accounting, ACC4001 Financial Management, ACC4002 Financial Statement Analysis, and ACC4003 Financial Modelling.
- Students who have successfully completed an educational programme that qualify them to become a professional member of a recognised professional body in accounting, finance or related disciplines will be awarded exemptions from ACC4101 Strategic Cost Management and ACC4102 Strategic Business Analysis.
- Students who are members of a recognised professional body in accounting, finance or related disciplines will be awarded an exemption from BUS4801 Seminars in Professional Practice.
- Students who have at least one year of relevant work experience will be awarded an exemption from BUS4801 Seminars in Professional Practice.
Programme Rules
- Students must complete ACC4000, ACC4001, ACC4002, ACC4003, ACC4101 and ACC4102 before enrolling in BUS4901 unless exemptions are awarded.
- Students must successfully complete all units to be eligible to the award of the Master of Business Administration TCZ unless exemptions are awarded.
